As I pondered the comments and arguments of the Republican debate last night I was reminded once again how much out of touch with Biblical reality we truly are. We hear positions each of these candidates hold on various important issues but in fact, none of them seem to really be seeing the world in which we live in through a biblical world lens. The fact is, we are living in the same world as Noah. That is, we are busy going about our business, contemplating a hopefully new President, transporting the kids to endless school and sporting events and yes, trying to provide for it all. That said, we are failing to pay attention to the numerous warning signs God has provided in His Word. Warnings that we are on the edge of the precipice.
I am reminded that God used Noah to build an ark that certainly must have attracted attention in order for him to warn his generation of impending doom. In addition God sent two angels to Sodom and Gomorrah to warn Lot and his family of coming destruction. Here's the point, the majority of people, failed to heed the warning! Only eight listened and heeded in Noah's case and only 4 in Lot's! What more can we do but continue to warn our morally perverse and spiritually deceived society that a Day of Judgment is in fact coming. Coming suddenly and catching the vast majority totally unprepared. But we must warn them! We cannot be forced into silence for Jesus himself cautioned us about developing a cold and indifferent heart (Matthew 24:12) How is your heart today? I am praying that there will be a new sense of urgency in the lives of many today and that we will wake up and heed the warnings that all is not well and warn our world that soon, God's prophesied judgment is going to come upon an unsuspecting people just as it did in Noah and Lot's day.
